Located in northern Orange County, Yorba Linda is a city of nearly 70,000 people and is known for its small town charm. Although the food scene here doesn’t get the admiration of Orange County foodies, there are plenty of good restaurants that deserve recognition.
Here is my pick of the 10 best restaurants that Yorba Linda has to offer.

El Farolito
El Farolito’s story starts 4 decades ago when a family from Mexico had a dream of starting their very own restaurant in America. That dream came to fruition after many back breaking hours, working in the fields of Coachella Valley afforded them the capital to purchase their own restaurant.
40 years later, their restaurant El Farolito has become one of the best Mexican restaurants in Orange County.
When the patrons of a Mexican restaurant is flooded with parents and grandparents of Mexican families, you know the food will be delicious. And no doubt it is. The food here is very, very good and it stays true to the recipes that have sustain countless generations of families throughout Mexico.
Some of my favorite things to order are the carnitas, which is super tender pieces of pork marinated for hours in their tomato sauce and the enchiladas, which comes out sizzling and oozes with cheese. I can’t help but to clean the plate every time.
To top it off, the prices are super affordable and the portions are plentiful. Go here now, don’t wait!

Monarch 9 Café
Monarch 9 is family owned and operated restaurant that is serving up some of the best Vietnamese food in the area. They pride themselves on using only the freshest ingredients and crafting healthy meals for their customers.
No Vietnamese restaurant is complete without pho and the pho here is phenomenal. The broth is full and deep and when you see little bubbles of fat rise to the surface, you know that broth was handled with the utmost patience and care.
The Monarch fries are another highlight of the menu. They take a bed of fries and covered it in fall-off-the-bone oxtail and smother it with their signature aoli sauce. And lets not forget the Oxtail fried rice, yes Oxtail fried rice! Its basically a fried rice version of pho and it really hits the mark!
They also have tons of really great options for vegetarian and vegans and no it’s not garden burgers and fake chicken nuggets. It’s quality vegan versions of Vietnamese classics, like banh mi and vermicelli.

Flappy Jack’s Pancake House
It wouldn’t be hard to argue that Flappy Jack’s is one of the best breakfast place in town. The lines is out the door, they have thousands of positive reviewers and the satisfied faces of people leaving the restaurant can attest to my initial statement.
There is nothing revolutionary about their menu and they aren’t following the latest food trends. They are simply cooking very good food.
You will find all your favorites here – waffles, pancakes, steak and eggs, chicken fried steak, omelettes, scrambles, french toast, burgers, sandwiches and much more.
If you do come on the weekend, come early. It’s not unusual to wait upwards of an hour during prime breakfast and brunch hours.

Seasurf Fish Co
Seasurf Fish Co is a fast casual restaurant with one clear mission, to serve the fresh, high quality seafood at a reasonable price and so far they have been extraordinarily successful at accomplishing their mission.
They have everything here to satiate your seafood cravings. They have oysters, lobster rolls, sushi rolls, poke bowls, tacos, burritos, grilled fish, sandwiches and so much more!
Some of our favorite items on the menu are the fish and chips, which is beer battered cod that is fried to perfection and served with fries and slaw.
The Fried Oyster Po’ Boy is oysters breaded with southern cornmeal and served in a hoagie roll.
The ceviche is the catch of the day served with slow marinated octopus and shrimp and served with their homemade tortilla chips.
And of course the Fisherman’s Catch which is a backyard boil that has the whole shebang in there!
Their menu still manage to wow us, no matter how many times we’ve ordered them.

Chef Hiro Noguchi has been perfecting his craft for most of his life and it really shows in the quality of food that he puts out.
Th omakase is the star of the show here and you can put your trust in the chef that he will always deliver a memorable experience for your taste buds. He tells a story with each selection and there is perfect harmony between the ingredients, textures and flavors.
The omakase will set you back between $90-$150 but it is well worth it.

Tony’s Little Italy Pizza
Tony’s Little Italy is serving some of the best Chicago deep dish pizza in Orange County and it’s hard to argue against it.
They are not playing around here, the pizzas are hefty, but well-composed with zesty tomato sauce and with a substantial amount of Wisconsin mozzarella.
The first slice requires some effort to pull away from all the cheesey goodness that interweaves throughout the entire pizza.
It’s a behemoth that takes forever to cook (45 minutes -1 hour), but you can call ahead of time before you pick up it up.
I usually can eat a good amount of food but two slices from this monster puts me away, satisfied and deliriously full.

Terra
(photo)
Chef and owner Nick Saba started Terra out of a custom-built trailer, selling wood-fried pizza at local farmers markets, street fairs and private events.

His artisanal Neapolitan style pizzas are the highlight of the menu and specifically the fennel sausage pizza has been referred by many as one of the best pizzas in Orange County. Other notable selections on the menu include the

It’s hard for us not to recommend everything, but there are a few standout items that keep us coming back. The first one is the Golden Baked Ham and Swiss. It’s a simple sandwich where all the ingredients perfectly harmonize with each other, creating a lasting impression on your taste buds. The Montague sandwich is another highlight of the menu and includes braised beef short ribs, strawberry demi glace, slaw and harvarti cheese. It’s pure bliss wrapped up in a sandwich.
