When you want the best Hainan chicken outside of Singapore, you go to Savoy Kitchen. They’ve been opened for 30 years and they have really perfected this dish.
Hainan chicken is the national dish of Singapore and is a straightforward dish that consists of poached chicken served with rice and a few dipping sauces.
The chicken is super tender and moist and almost melts in your mouth. The rice is steeped in chicken fat and comes out imbued with this wonderful and aromatic flavor and the consistency is soft and fluffy. Add in the dipping sauce and you have a harmonic medley of flavors that makes you want to come back time and time again.

Don’t let it’s small and modest location fool you, Mama Lu Dumpling House may be a hole-in-the-wall restaurant, but it is serving some of the best Chinese/Taiwanese food in Monterey Park.
When you come here you must order the xiao long bao, they are on par with some of the best in the city. Suck out some of the juice and then pop one of those bad boys in your mouth and you will see instantly see what all the hype is about.
You need to strategically choose when to come, as there is a persistent line out the door and they don’t take reservations.

Brew Kitchen is the perfect place for those time when you want some good food and some good beer.
The beer selection is vast and has something for everyone. They have hoppy IPAs, fruity and sours, lagers, ales and if you aren’t in the mood for beer they have soju cocktails and wine.
When it comes to food you can’t go wrong with one of their signature burgers, their fish and chips or their buffalo ranch chicken sandwich.

If you are ever interested in trying Malaysian food, look no further than Borneo Kalimantan. The food here is spectacular and is the best representation of Malay food in Los Angeles and probably all of Southern California.
If you are new to Malay food, get the Laska. It’s a soup noodle dish that consists of a curry coconut soup base and is sprinkled with shrimp, fish cake, fried tofu, marinated egg, bean sprouts and fried shallots. The roti is another can’t miss dish. It’s basically a pan grilled pancake that comes with a flavorful dipping sauce and it’s really, really tasty!

The quality of the dim sum is some of the best in Los Angeles and the service is fast and attentive. There are no carts and you just order through the QR code.
