Everyone’s favorite Starlight, Erin Moriarty, lit up the red carpet at the Tribeca Film Festival this past week as she attended the premiere of her new film Catching Dust at the annual fest.
While the film garnered acclaim at its showing, it was Erin that stole the show in a two-piece dress, outshining everyone around her.
Erin’s meteoric rise through the past decade has been nothing short of phenomenal, with a modest start on the daytime soap One Life to Live before quickly moving into critically acclaimed parts in True Detective and Jessica Jones, the latter as one of David Tennant’s latest victims in the character of Kilgrave. Her role as the fragile yet defiant Hope gave her an instant boost in the business.
For the most part she would take smaller indie roles after Jessica Jones, making notable entries into the Scream Queen competition with Within and the criminally underrated Monster Party in 2018 alongside Runaways’ actress Virginia Gardner and the late, great, legendary Lance Reddick. Things would change for Erin that year when she was cast in Amazon’s latest adaptation of a cult comic book with a penchant for some of the most edgy, ridiculous violence ever written.
The Boys was a force to be reckoned with in the comic world long before the show came along, with the signature overblown violence and sadism of Garth Ennis on full display.
While the show toned down some of the more ridiculous parts (Herogasm in the show was late-night Cinemax in comparison), there are still plenty of outrageous moments yet to come, especially with the recent casting of Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the character Tek Knight. Hopefully, they exclude some of his early plot.
Erin has ridden the wave of success from The Boys to the top though, with more high-profile appearances in media thanks to the genius marketing behind the show with in-universe updates from the Vought Company.
We’re sure to start seeing Erin more as they ramp up for season four, with a new teaser released just days ago with new Vought CEO Ashley Barrett giving an update on the trial of Homelander after the events of season three.
The newest season should give a massive shakeup, with Starlight now essentially being a fugitive and The Boys still nursing their wounds after the final battle against Homelander and Soldier Boy.
Until then, Erin is going to do some short promo for Catching Dust, a drama about a troubled marriage fraying upon the arrival of a new couple to a small commune in Oregon. The film has gotten fantastic critical praise already through Tribeca and was taken on as one of the Official Selections for the festival this year. While it’s unknown if there is going to be a theatrical release date, there’s no doubt it will come to VOD at minimum eventually.
Fans can make sure to follow Erin on Instagram where she updates semi-frequently with fun pictures of behind the scenes as well as all the hangouts with fellow cast members outside of work, particularly Kimiko actress and confessed best friend Karen Fukuhara (who has her own delightful Youtube channel where she cooks and makes drinks!).
